1) Student ragging, resulting in death or else as painful consequences as what happened in Australia.
2) A 10-minute conversation with any foreign tourist in India will give you truckfulls of information on how they have been harrassed, cheated, taken for a ride, over-charged, groped, stared at and much more.
3) India has got quite a reputation when it comes to thrashing or even murdering foreigners. Goa is a place in consideration.
4) It is sad but true that what the foreign world sees of India is more often than not - the wannabes. Those people who will fall over themselves to be like the foreigners (for what reason, God alone knows) and then who show our country in poor light.
5) India has quite a reputation for brain drain. Has any government tried to reverse this process? Is it any wonder then that we are resented abroad, simply because we are ready to work for a comparitively lesser pay and are ready to go even to the Arctic.
6) Most tourist spots in the world abhor the Indian traveler for he is constantly in a quest to get freebies and discounts, and of course, strip a hotel room when he leaves.
Once again I don't condone what has happened or what continues to happen. Racial discrimination is a blackspot on humanity. But then, in a eerie sort of way - this seems to be a case of what goes around, comes around.
